Our story, your celebration

Discover the heart behind The Eight 2 Eight Rental Hall, where every event supports our local community and creates lasting memories.

From silver screen to special events

Situated in the heart of Shepherd, Michigan, our building holds a rich history. It was originally the Laurel Theater, a movie house that opened in 1950 but closed its doors in 1955. Later, Merle Koutz Sr. purchased it, transforming it into various businesses, including an arcade. It also housed two different pizza restaurants, Angels and Joey's Pizza, before its current incarnation.

Our mission: community and connection

Will and Staci Bailey purchased the property in 2016 with a vision to help Shepherd's economy thrive. Staci, already a local business owner of Dyenamic Hair Dezigns, and Will are firm believers in supporting local. Both graduated from Clare High School and now call Shepherd home. Our mission is to boost the local economy and give people more reasons to visit our wonderful town. You’ll find local partners listed on our we who we recommend page  because we believe it takes a village to be successful.
